26 – little plane to Fredericton

My coworker and I are in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. We flew out of Medford at 6am, and arrive local time after 11pm. Granted, it is 4-hrs later than home – Atlantic Time.

Everything seemed to be going fine until we arrived in Denver – which was our first stop. We sat on that plane for over an hour waiting for maintenance to do their thing – they eventually kicked us all off to reboard a new plane, but almost an hour later. We finally got on the plane and made it to Boston. The only downside now is, our original 3-hr layover in Boston was shot because of our waiting in Denver! On top of all that, we had to change from United to Delta! We ran. And ran. And ran. Ok. exaggerating – we walked really really fast. Nonetheless, the plane was being held for us!

To our amazement, we made it through getting our boarding passes and security pretty fast and made it to the plane that frankly, sat maybe 18 people! One row on either side. As the lady up front is practically yelling the safety stuff to us I started to think, where was she going to sit? As she finished, she comfortably tucked her way into the co-pilot seat. Oh! I see, now! Small plane!

An hour and 20-minutes later we arrived in a Fredericton. The airport seemed no bigger than the one in Medford. The only real downside now was, the plane was so small there were only able to fit 2 of the 3 cases we travel with. Oops.

Luckily it was the audio case, so we still have our two cameras, and we will make something happen with audio.

We are in Fredericton filming the Sabian Cymbals factory. We have one day to do it. What luck, missing a case, and even if it did come in, it won’t be here until the first of 2 flights in from Boston arrive. This means, about 3 in the afternoon!

So, the hopeful arrangement in my head is that we finish all of what we need tomorrow, then we can fly out on the first flight out instead of the late flight. We are going to NY for a week. So, I will have our other case just wait for us in Boston. We will recheck all three cases to NY and all will be well.

Helluv’an adventure so far!

Hello! So, I created a blog for my work. The cool thing is it’s gaining attention and traffic faster than this blog ever dreamed of. This is a good thing!

You can see it at http://revamp-mag.com/av

I am off again. Tomorrow afternoon I fly to LA for two days, then to Canada and NY. It’s a busy 2-weeks but we are having fun losing sleep and making good video content!

This work blog shows the artists we are working with. I think you will enjoy what we are working hard at building.

Hopefully have more later.

Nashville, TN – Zoro The Drummer

Zoro The Drummer Interview - 8/16

Our last night in Nashville turned into an inspirational and enjoyable evening with Zoro The Drummer. He open up his house to us as we made our spot in his new room where he hopes to be able to put up all of this pictures and memorabilia that represent his wonderful career.

The taped interview was right at 2-hrs long without a break. We were fortunate as a video team that Bill actually grew up with Zoro right here in Southern Oregon, so there was a lot of catching up to do, and a lot of old memories revisited, even as far back as what inspired Zoro to start drumming in the first place, and that Bill was one of the first guys to ever play with Zoro when he was learning how to hit the skins.

Almost to Denver, probably another hour before we land.  I tried playing the free pilot episodes I downloaded last night.  Not realizing I would have to authorize them… so now, I am here, almost bored, wanting to geek out and watch these episodes on my new laptop – and I can’t.  Instead, I will jam out with the tunes I put on my iTunes and sit here.

I want to write a lot more, and it’s just going to take some inspiration to make it all work in my head.  I read through my Grassroots Band Tips – Episodes 3 and 4, which I know I would like to add to, rewrite, edit, something!  But I am stumped.  After I read through it all and nothing comes to mind – I guess it’s not meant to be yet.

I tried downloading WoW (World of Warcraft) last night.  Not realizing it was nearly a 4GB download, and even by this morning it hadn’t grabbed any more than a quarter of it – I gave up.  I’ll set it to download tonight, see if I can get a better download at the hotel.

I also thought about having some kind of super easy headset unit to allow me to record the podcasts from even a hotel room!  Of course, if would be cool to have a good mic and interface, but I am not about to lug that around just for the possible rare chance I might get around to recording a podcast.  S, I was thinking of trying out one of the Bluetooth headsets that could double with my blackberry if I felt driven to look like all of the “busy wanna-be’s” that just wear those silly things to look cool.

Okay, I didn’t want to get into that, but here I go!  Cell phone etiquette is getting out of hand.  People use these Bluetooth headsets and walk into public places talking loud thinking people care about their space!  Well, we don’t care about you or who your talking to, so, take your conversation into the bathroom in a stall or something.  At least this way people can laugh at you instead of get all pissed off because you look you are talking to them, or worse, yourself.

Ok.  I’m done with that.

Pages of Life – 23

This summer went by quickly, but as you can imaging, that was a good thing for me.  With my wife gone the entire summer, and just me alone with my two boys, who are 3 and 5, you can imagine how relieved I am to have her home.  Nonetheless, as I hoped to have a bunch of things accomplished by the time September rolled around, I can say none of them happened.  I can say, that my job has become quite the positive challenge.  It’s really giving me a run for my money – which I want more of.

Starting with the trip that begins tomorrow morning at 4am, the rest of calendar ’07 is about to get crazy.  Between trips and editing my coworker and I have unofficially realized, we are going to be tired by Christmas!

I am going to start adding the same pics I’ll add here, but maybe some extras, to a new work page, http://revamp-mag.com/av, which will also have our travel schedule at the top of the page, but then below will have a blog that we will post cool pictures of places we go, and mostly cool, the famous people we get to meet.

I keep hoping for more writing opportunities to write more of what I know, which is my work and what I do there, and live production.  Even though I have been away from it for a while, I still stay in touch with trends and technology, so if I had to jump back in at any level I would know exactly what I was doing.  🙂

Stock around for more!  I will try to keep a good log of my trip to Nashville starting tomorrow through Friday.

’till then!

Pages of Life – 22

So, it’s been a week home now. I am still recovering. My immune system is suffering a little from lack of sleep. I all of the sudden have a ton of side projects coming alive. It’s really weird, but at the same time it rocks! My recent post about starting school – yeah. You can ignore that. With all of my traveling and the work I am doing, the resume I am building with that is much more valuable than spending another $20K a year on a school for 3-years. I already owe a ton from my last school.

At work we have a new digital still camera. I hope we will be keeping better tabs on the people we are meeting. So, the first picture, I am posting here.

We were able to spend some time with Eric Johnson, which was great!ME, Eric Johnson, Bill newman (coworker)

We will be spending some time with another icon at the end of the month. Next week we are meeting Chester Thomson, drummer for Genesis and many other amazing power groups! We will also be meeting Zoro the drummer.

My website, ReVaMP Magazine – Online, is starting to see some traffic. Nothing to praise about, but I have a couple of people who stepped up to do some CD reviews. So, you should see some updates in the next couple of weeks. In addition, the local events calendar is slowly but surely getting some great shows posted.

Of course, this leaves me time to keep the site going, and do some technical articles on behalf of Audio Visual Presentation . I am also talking with another publication later tonight on Skype about some other writing opportunities, so we’ll see how that goes.

At work we are supposed to be getting our brand new MacBook Pros in – you know the LCD backlit kind, 160GB 7200rpm drive – yea, that new. This will give me a great machine to have on the road when I do video editing while I am out of my studio, as well as keep up with my writing. I have an M-Audio MicroTrack – I was thinking about continuing my podcast, Grassroots Band Tips , featured on my ReVaMP Myspace page (scroll down a little). That will eventually be posted on my ReVaMP Magazine – Online home page, but I haven’t figured out the best way to do that. I have only 2 episodes, with another 3 or so written! I guess we’ll see what happens.

stick around!
